Welcome to the Flathead Valley at The Real Montana.com
The Flathead Valley, located in the Northwestern part of the state of Montana is extremely diverse in natural beauty, recreation, wildlife and wonderful people. If a simple life, simple pleasures, breathtaking scenery and thrill –seeking adventure are desired by you, then The Real Montana is where you need to be.
Kalispell and all its’ surrounding areas are in my opinion The Real Montana with an endless amount of recreation and opportunity. The residents here are truly blessed. Not only for living at the base of the most beautiful section of the Rocky Mountain Ranges, but for the additional abundance of wild game, scenic waters, and enormous blue skies that wrap around each community.
The Flathead Valley harbors Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake in the United States west of the Mississippi River. Big Mountain and Blacktail Mountain Ski Resorts are within minutes of each outlying community providing downhill, cross-country and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and tubing. Three major rivers, Flathead, Whitefish and Stillwater, cut through the valley floor offering plenty of opportunities for the avid and not so avid freshwater fishermen. A wide range of lakes and reservoirs scattered throughout the valley provide ample room for fishing, boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, sailing, and basking in the sun. Wintertime freezes offer plenty of ice for anyone brave enough to ice-fish, or ice-skate.
There are countless recreational opportunities to go around. 10 top rated golf courses scattered throughout the communities, rodeo arenas, world-class equestrian competitions, motor-cross events, world-class hunting and fishing, and endless trails for the sure-footed hiker or mountain-biker. And if that’s not enough, the crowns of the continent soar an amazing 6,646 feet high to the top of the Continental Divide for the extreme rock climbers, backpackers and sightseers. These crowns are known as the “Shining Mountains” and the “Backbone of the World”. Glacier National Park preserves more than a million acres of forests, alpine meadows, rugged peaks and glacial-carved valleys in the northern Rocky Mountains.
If you are not the seasoned recreationalist, our communities are lavished with arts, entertainment, and plenty of history. The Bigfork summer Playhouse is open from May-August. Experience one of the finest live professional repertory theaters in the Northwest featuring Broadway standards and drawing talent from across the country. From Art and Cultural Centers, gambling, summer concerts, museums, mansions, county fairs, Indian powwows, to city and community festivals, this majestic valley is incorporated with endless ways to explore, and enjoy what makes up The Real Montana.
